June 6 - 30, 2019, don’t miss IRC’s production of Christopher Durang’s “Betty’s Summer Vacation,” directed by Tina Brock.
The premise of Christopher Durang's play: take a group of wildly incompatible people, mix them together in a vacation setting under one small roof, and watch the fur fly. Christopher Durang is a celebrated playwright whose plays have been produced on and off-Broadway, around the country and abroad. Ben Brantley, in his review of this 1999 production for The New York Times, described “Betty's Summer Vacation” as "a heavenly hell of a production ... relentlessly fierce, relentlessly funny ... suggests that Western civilization is ending not with a bang but with a laugh track."
Christopher Durang is the recipient of three Obie Awards in Playwriting: “Betty's Summer Vacation” in 1999, “The Marriage of Bette and Boo” in 1985, and “Sister Mary Ignatius Explains It All” in 1980.
